UK ILR Absence Calculator

Know where you stand before you apply for ILR.

A calm, visual way to see how your time outside the UK affects your Indefinite Leave to Remain application.

A planning tool, not legal advice.

Example — not real data

Why this exists

The UK’s absence rule for ILR is rolling, not yearly. That makes it easy to miscount and hard to plan. This tool takes the trips you’ve already made — and any trips you’re thinking about — and shows you, month by month, whether your plan looks Safe or Danger. No spreadsheets. No counting by hand.

Record every trip

Add each time you left the UK. Departure, return, and a short note if you want. Your trips stay on your account, so you don’t have to rebuild them from memory.

See your full picture

Every month of your qualifying period sits on a simple grid. Green for months in the UK, red for months abroad, grey for months you haven’t reached yet. The shape of your history at a glance.

Plan the trips ahead

Add a trip you’re thinking about and see how the grid changes. If it tips you into Danger, you’ll see which months the tool is worried about — and the earliest date you’d become Safe again.

Two results, in plain English

Every time you run an assessment, you get one of two results.

Safe

Your projected absence history stays within the buffered allowance for your route on your target application date.

Danger

Your projected absence history exceeds the buffered allowance. You’ll see concrete planning options.

And the grid shows you why.

Green blocks are months you spent in the UK. Light red blocks are months with a short trip abroad. Deep red blocks are months you spent mostly outside the UK. Grey blocks are months you haven’t reached yet. If your result is Danger, the grid extends forward to show the earliest date you’d become Safe again.

What this tool is — and what it isn’t

This is a decision-support tool. It takes the travel history you give it and shows you, month by month, how it looks against the UK ILR absence rules. It does not decide your application, and it does not predict whether your application will succeed.

It is not legal advice. If your situation is complex, or if your result is Danger, please speak to a qualified UK immigration adviser. This tool is here to help you think — not to replace professional review.

Your travel data stays on your account. We don’t share it outside your account, and nothing you enter here is visible to other users of the product.
